2010 Priority: Workforce Development, Especially Focusing on Native Americans and Health Disparities (Resources)

Region VIII has contracted with the American Indian Higher Education Consortium to develop a nursing curriculum that includes Healthy People 2010 objectives and Leading Health Indicators. This curriculum is intended to be used in selected tribal college schools of nursing in order to enhance students’ understanding of public health and prevention activities. Special focus will be given to include those objectives that pertain to women’s reproductive health, Family planning, and elimination of health disparities. Summer 2002

Women’s and Minority Health Status Indicators CD project: Region VIII has contracted with Quality Resource Systems, Inc. to continue updating the regional Health Status Indicators CDs. Indicators with a Healthy People 2010 objective include that goal for monitoring how a state or county is doing. The 2001 CD will serve as a benchmarking product while subsequent versions of the CD can be used for monitoring progress towards the goals. The 2002 update will be available Summer 2002.
