In these troubled times, a little relief can help a lot. A new law, the National Guard and Reservists Debt Relief Act of 2008 (PL 110-438), provides Guard and reserve service members with bankruptcy.

GI Bill Educational Benefits Enhanced for Reservists
The National Defense Authorization Act of 2008 has enhanced the GI bill educational benefits (Reserve Educational Assistance Program - REAP) for reservists. Among the most significant changes is that eligibility is now based on aggregate active service of three years rather than continuous service.
