The CDC's Summer Injury Control Update cites the following facts to emphasize the importance of injury awareness and control:

  • EVERY FIFTEEN MINUTES, someone dies in a motor vehicle crash.
  • ON AN AVERAGE DAILY, 17 young people are murdered.
  • EACH YEAR, more than 3 million children are treated in emergency departments for injuries from falls.
