Army Updates and Improves Sexual Assault Program
In September 2008 the Army launched its I.A.M. Strong campaign, which explains the program's philosophy and offers guidance to Soldiers on how to intervene in a sexual assault situation and actions that a soldier who has been assaulted should take. The I.A.M. in the program's title stands for Intervene - Act - Motivate, emphasizing Soldiers' and leaders' responsibility to act as a "Band of Brothers and Sisters" to eliminate sexual assault from the Army.
The web-based program is located at www.preventsexualassault.army.mil and being phased in over five years. The first phase, leadership commitment, is already under way. The sequential phases are:
| Phase I |
Leadership Commitment |
| Phase II |
In-depth training for Soldiers on intervention and stopping sexual assault and harassment |
| Phase III |

Many useful tools are already available on the site (http://www.preventsexualassault.army.mil), including information on preventing sexual assault or becoming a sexual assault offender, as well as policy information and links to other resources.
